South Again Charters / ECRC 2011 Championship

With no charters booked on Saturday and it being Dawna and mines 9 year anniversary, we decided that fishing the ECRC 2011 Championship tournament would be a very fitting way to spend our special day (I am a lucky man).

We had plans to fish for Bull reds most of the day and hope to be able to pull some upper slots out of the larger schools. Our plan looked pretty good when we rounded Ft. Pickens in to the Pass at around 0615 Saturday morning. The Pass and Gulf were both alive with thousands of Redfish destroying the surface of the water. The first school we pulled up to was obviously over size but Dawna wanted to tangle with a few... So that's what we did, she hooked and landed 4 or 5 very large fish fairly quickly. With her using her new Sustain 3000 loaded with 10lb Power Pro it was a blast chasing the fish down and watching her do battle on the light tackle!

After an hour or two of the Giant fish we moved over to the Pass to begin jigging for the slot fish we needed, Dana made her first drop and quickly hooked a nice fish. 25.5" and a little over 5lbs. We were now on the board. The rest of the day was a long day of catching and releasing Bull Red after Bull red and a ton of nice Red Snapper all on artificials.

With an hour left in the day I luckily hooked a good fish that went 26" and just a hair under 7lbs! That was all we needed, we cracked our celebration beers and blasted off towards Flounders for the weigh in. Once the smoke had settled and the weights had been tallied, we finished in 3rd place with 11.69 lbs!

Another great day spent on the water with my Girl doing what we love to do................ Catching Fish

South Again Charter / November 7th and 8th

After a few cancellations due to the high winds I was finally able to get out on the water. Jim, Gary and Brent joined for two days of Bull Red fishing. To say the bite was hot would be an understatement!

Both days started with a nice run from Galvez landing to my favorite Flounder hole. The Flounder bite was not what I had hoped it would be, but it was good enough to boat several keeper fish. The Red Snapper have taking over the North Rocks and the Pass so we spent the majority of our morning releasing them. Both morning we moved over the Pass at around 0900 to catch the newly incoming tide.. Redfish were caught on nearly every drop, we caught fish ranging from Middle to Upper slot fish all the way up to a few 20lb bruisers!

Bait did not seem to be a big issue either, we caught all of our fish on both live shrimp and on Bull Minnows. Over the two days we landed over 20 redfish, several large Black Drum, Sheepshead, Flounder and countless Red Snapper! All in all a great two days spent on the water with some great guys!
