What an amazing day in the Gulf! Today I was joined by a regular Client and Great Friend Jason on an all day “For Hire” trip. The plan was to make bait and head offshore in search of a few Amberjacks and then some bottom fishing. Jason, John Paul, Sean and Larry met me at Shoreline Park around 0630 and we blasted off towards the Pass. The Mass was crawling with bait so filling the live well was a breeze.
After making bait we shot South in search of AJ’s and we found them biting! We quickly boated a real solid fish and an undersized one. The things got tough, we hooked a few really nice Jacks but just couldn’t seem to turn them. Between the freight train Jacks and the never ending Red Snapper invasion, we decided to switch gears. We tied up some Two hook rigs and off to our next spot.
The next stop was a constant bite of White Snapper and Triggerfish. We even managed to box a Black Snapper and a Lane! On the way back in just for kick we decided to make a quick drop in the Pass and see if we could catch a Redfish. About our 5th drift John Paul hung into a monster!! The Red was near 25 lbs and gave us a good run on light tackle!
All in all another wonderful day on the water with some great Guys!! Thanks again to Jason and crew for having me on board today and look forward to next time!
